Our Mission

Operation Gillybean exists to provide relief, mobility, and moments of respite for families with hospitalized children.

We begin with a pilot program in Lubbock, TX — helping families with hospitalized kids get to appointments, outings, and moments of joy — while laying the foundation to expand nationwide.

Our long-term vision is to bring comfort, connection, and care to every family walking through the hardest days of their lives.

Our goals

Relief

01

Families can become overwhelmed when faced with the hospitalization of a child, especially the long-term hospitalization of a child. We have been there and done that. They are not alone. And we are here to let them know that. Many times they are from out of the area and do not have a clue where to turn to for things like shopping, meals, entertainment. We stand ready to provide them this info and more.

02

Mobility

Often children in hospital are from homes that are dozens if not hundreds of miles away. It is a burden for a parent, grandparent, sibling, aunt, or uncle to be there. We want to team with Ronald McDonald House Charities, Uber, Lyft, Tesla, airlines servicing the local area, and others to provide a place to stay and way to get around that takes some of that burden off.

03

Respite

When a child is in the hospital the parent’s world becomes the four walls of that hospital room. We would like to partner with local movie theaters, restaurants, and other venues to provide families with a few hours of away time every week for the sake of their own health and sanity.
